Central London's only light trail. A new route through the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, alive with light, and this year designed by Britain's leading light artists.
You step through the arch and the city falls away.
The gates close behind you and the traffic goes with them. In here the light is already gathering in the trees. There is a point in every winter when Christmas stops being something to organise and starts being something you feel. It tends to happen about here.
Not just more lights.
A trail designed by artists.
A new trail designed by Britain's leading light artists, with brand new large-scale art pieces and a longer, new route winding through Ranelagh Gardens. Art you walk into, made for these grounds and nowhere else.
There is a look children get the moment the lights come up.
Their eyes go wide, and the whole evening exists for that look. This year there is more built expressly for it, with new interactive installations made for younger guests to step into.
Come for the Illuminations.
Stay for the evening.
The final stretch curves ahead of you, and then, through the last arch, the Village. Fire pits, the first mulled wine of the year, The Curling Club. You'll come for the lights, but you'll stay for everything that Chelsea Winter Village has to offer.
“A mammoth journey of glowing installations, interactive artworks and magical soundscapes"
